For my final major project, I wanted to create a project that represents me as a creative as well as showcases my skills in fashion styling.
I want to bring modern and glamorous fashion styling to red carpet fashion looks. As my brand image is to make fashion more fun and nostalgic, I decided to come up with four fashion looks, for four different potential movie premieres. I wanted to take inspiration from movies from my childhood, so I decided to create red carpet looks for iconic childhood movies. I created looks for potential movies; WICKED THREE, FROZEN THREE, Barbie Swan Lake Live-action, and UP Live-action.
As I wanted to make these looks more fun and interactive on the red carpets, I came up with and designed my own accessories to match the looks. I designed arm & ankle bracelets for the WICKED look, a feather corset & headpiece, inspired by ' barbie Odette's ' dress, and for the frozen movie, I decided to design and embellish a clear umbrella, creating a 'snowfall & ice' effect, inspired by ' Elsa's ' ice and snow powers. For my 'UP' movie inspired look, I decided to take direct inspiration from the movie's iconic 'balloons holding the house', to which I used a bunch of colourful helium balloons on the model.
For my movie premiere red carpet looks, I came up with potential celebrities who I would want to dress these look on. I wanted to choose iconic role models for the new generation, who are also part of our childhood moments, as well as follow the same values and morals as my brand does. I decided to style Ariana Grande & Zendaya, who are both Disney and Nickelodeon stars, actress Lily James, and tv & movie presenter Zainab Jiwa. These are strong, empowering women who inspire a lot of young girls currently.
For my final outcomes, I decided to conduct and produce a fashion photoshoot in my university photography studio. I created and took my photos in a red carpet inspired set up with paparazzi lights effect. This came out really well, as I really liked how the red carpet inspired shoot, really made my fashion styles come to life. As well as taking 'paparazzi' styles images, I also took 'glambot' inspired clips, to give my red carpet looks a more fun and eye-catching element.
This project really helped me to showcase and represent myself as a creative and future fashion stylist for brand and fashion events. I enjoyed creating new and fun ways of presenting fashion styling on red carpet events.
